The manifesto

Judgment was learned. Compassion can be too.

We were taught to rank, rate and roast — ourselves first. JudgementBeGone exists to un-teach that. We blend neuroscience, mindfulness, inner-child work and a little punk-rock tenderness to help you live un-apologetically human.

01 Feel

Notice without attack

87% of members say their inner critic volume dropped in 14 days just by naming it: “Ah, there’s judgment again.”

02 Question

Is it true? Is it kind?

Byron-Katie-meets-brain-science inquiry that dismantles “I’m too much / not enough” in under 4 minutes.

03 Return

Come home to body

Breath, shaking, cold water, humming — somatic resets that tell your nervous system: safe now.

About us — our story

We started with a sticky note on a bathroom mirror.

2016, Portland. Founder Maya Ellison wrote “judgement be gone” in lipstick after a panic attack fueled by Instagram comparison. She photographed it. 2M people shared it. A movement was born.

Today Judgement Be Gone is a 48k-strong collective of therapists, coaches, artists and ex-perfectionists across 32 countries. No gurus. No toxic positivity. No “just love yourself”. Just honest tools, real community, and permission to be gloriously unfinished.

Six pillars of freedom

Not rules. Reminders.

Pick one pillar a week. Small, sticky, shame-free practices that rewire judgment at the root.

Self-talkGentle self reflection

1. Befriend the critic

Give your inner judge a silly name (ours is Kevin). Laugh, thank, redirect. 3-min voice-note practice.

BodyYoga body acceptance

2. Body neutrality

Mirror script + somatic shake. From “I hate my…” to “My body carries me.” Daily 2-min.

OthersDiverse community talking

3. Stop judging others

Projection flip: what irritates you teaches you. 4-question compassion lens.

ShameSunrise hope after shame

4. Shame detox

Write, burn, breathe. Evidence-based journaling to externalize old stories.

RestResting peacefully

5. Rest without guilt

Anti-hustle naps, “enough” lists, Sunday un-productivity club.

JoyCelebration joy dancing

6. Shameless joy

Dance badly, sing loudly, post cringe. Joy as rebellion practice.

The 3-minute Be Gone Reset

Our most-loved audio + breath tool. Used 1.2M times for anxiety spikes, mirror moments, scroll shame.

Pause & place hand on heart. Feel warmth. Say: “Judgement, I see you. You can rest now.”
Box-breathe 4-4-4-4 x4. Inhale compassion, exhale criticism. Let shoulders drop.
Flip to curiosity. Ask: “What do I need right now?” Do that tiny kind thing.

No dumb questions

FAQ, answered kindly

Is Judgement Be Gone therapy?

No. We’re a peer-led wellness movement with trauma-informed tools. We complement therapy, not replace it. If you’re struggling, please work with a licensed professional — and use our free resets as daily support.

Is it religious?

No. The name was inspired by grace and forgiveness themes, but we’re secular and inclusive. Atheists, Christians, Buddhists, spiritual-but-tired — all welcome. Judgment has no religion here.

How much does it cost?

Core journal, 3-min reset audio and community circle are free forever. Optional Deep Softening course ($49) funds free access for students and low-income members.

How fast will I feel different?

Most members feel a shift in 7-14 days of 5-min daily practice. Deep shame patterns take longer — that’s normal. We measure softness, not speed.

Can I share my story?

Yes! Submit via the Join section. Anonymous options available. Your mess could be someone’s medicine.
